After the success of @PETTY's Trio game and to hold you over until the next season, would anyone like to play Categories? It is very similar to Trio and would go like this:
Each “challenge” will consist of one category title which is written vertically. Example:
G
A
G
A
Game participants will have 24-hours to come up with one word (proper nouns/names and titles are allowed) for each letter of the category title that relates to that category.
The first word of your answer must begin with the key letter.
The articles "A", "An" and "The" cannot be used as key letters. For example, "S" (not “A”) is the key letter for the "movie title", A Star is Born.
For example, two participants playing the game might come up with the following:
Participant A
Glitter and Grease
ARTPOP
Grigio Girls
Alejandro
Participant B
Gucci
Alejandro
Germanotta
Ally
Participants win one point for each word they come up with that is not duplicated by another participant (regardless of the order if a word happens to have the same letter twice like in this example)
When answering with proper names or titles, you score an extra point for using the key letter more than once as a first letter in your answer.
In that logic, the scores for the two players would be the following:
Participant A
Glitter and Grease – 2 points
ARTPOP – 1 point
Grigio Girls – 2 points
Alejandro – 0 points (Participant B also said Alejandro. It doesn’t matter that Alejandro was used for the first “A” in Participant B’s response)
TOTAL SCORE: 5
Participant B
Gucci – 1 point
Alejandro – 0 points
Germanotta – 1 point
Ally – 1 point
TOTAL SCORE: 3
Creativity is rewarded because you are aiming for your answers to be unique enough that others will not also guess them
Each participant has 24 hours to PM their answers. After the 24 hours are up, I’ll post all participants' answers along with the number of points received by each participant based on the rules of the game. If one of the words is not allowed (e.g. if you used “A Star is Born” for one of the “A”s in GAGA, then you receive 0 points for that specific letter)
There will be 14 challenges. To make it more difficult, you cannot use the same answer more than once across all challenges
The participant with the most points by the end of the two weeks will be the winner! No cast-offs in this game. A leaderboard will be posted after each challenge to track the cumulative scores.
