Pop Smoke's massive mainstream success this year is so bizarre to me, the fact it came exclusively after he passed away. Of course, there have been some other songs that became hits while their artists already passed away (namely SOS, Hold My Hand, Love Never Felt So Good), but these were all from artists that were legends while they lived. Even XXXTentacion's Sad, which became #1 on the Hot 100 after his passing was already a top 10 hit before.
But I guess his songs serve the "vibes" and catchiness the locals like and they couldn't care less about if the person who sung them was killed nine months ago.
