  1. GOP house leader focusing on reading Green Eggs and Ham instead of focusing on getting his party behind a great piece of COVID Relief legislation....what a f-ing joke They can’t talk about policies because theirs are so bad, why do you think Trump didn’t even have a platform in the 2020 election? Because they don’t actually want to pass laws, they just want to Fillibuster ours and pass tax cuts. It’s pathetic.
  2. Biden will be able to get through his COVID bill and probably the planned and long awaited Infrastructure/Clean Jobs Bill through due to reconciliation but things like Police Reform, Equality Act, HR1, and Immigration reform are all keys Democrat priorities that will stall as long as the current rules remain in place. Believe me, I am actually part of the group that is kinda worried about what Republicans could do without the Fillibuster in place once they take power but there has to be some sort of reform, there should be no reason why we can confirm SCOTUS judges using simple majority but stuff like voting rights requires 60 votes...
  3. Manchin seeming open to some form of Fillibuster REFORM...not total abolishment but maybe we’re inching closer to some changes on the fillibuster...don’t hold your breathe though

  5. Day 46 - 1 Executive Order Signed by Biden Voting Rights President Biden will sign an executive order today, on the 56th anniversary of "Bloody Sunday," meant to promote voting rights, according to an administration official. The executive order comes as Democrats face an uphill battle to pass a sweeping election bill meant, in part, to combat a growing number of proposals introduced by Republicans at the state level that would restrict voter access. While Biden’s executive authority does not extend to overturning states’ laws, the order allows the president to signal his support for expanding voter rights. The executive order includes directives to all federal agencies to create a strategy to promote voter participation, like using their websites or social media accounts to encourage people to register to vote. * It calls for a revamp of Vote.gov, the government’s voting information website, within 200 days. * The order directs the Department of Defense to make it easier for active-duty military and voters living abroad to cast their ballots. * It calls for a review of voting practices and how they affect people with disabilities. * It also creates a steering committee on Native American voting rights. Biden will speak Sunday, per an administration official, where he will deliver virtual remarks to commemorate the civil rights march from Selma to Montgomery in 1965 and introduce his executive order. Biden is also expected to call on Congress to pass H.R. 1, the sweeping election bill recently passed by the House, and to restore the Voting Rights' Act, named in honor of the late civil rights icon, Rep. John Lewis.

  14. Yeah I was texting my mom, who is a pretty moderate democrat fiscally speaking (who doesn’t necessarily agree with a 15$ minimum wage) and even she was like “listen it’s okay if you disagree and maybe do or don’t think the minimum wage should be increased but she looks like a b*ch when she does that” And I agree, it’s fine to have disagreements but wow when you can’t even do it respectfully and you have to try some cringe “McCain Thumbs Down” tactic to try and go viral.....very very unimpressed and that’s me being nice. Congrats Sinema, you’re gonna go viral but in all the wrong freaking reasons. I’ve seen so many people online RAILING her for this.
  15. She’s trying SO HARD to be McCain....what a cringe..... And I’m so FED UP WITH MANCHIN
  16. I tried telling all my progressive friends that “forcing” the minimum wage into the bill would turn off the moderates and do far more damage than good. My Senator for example Angus King supports increasing the minimum wage but I think he’s come out and said that it didn’t belong in the COVID bill/reconciliation and therefore wouldn’t feel comfortable with forcing it into the bill, he ended up being one of the 8 against it. A lot of these senators do care about the “rules” that they play by, unfortunately. Would’ve loved for him to vote yes. I get the push for forcing a vote and wanting to see if these people call their bluff but...yeah 8 people would’ve called that bluff and Biden’s first piece of legislation would be an embracing defeat. It’s not what progressives want to hear but it’s true. Gotta keep fighting for 15!!!! I definitely support this, gotta find a way to get it done, overruling the parliamentarian will turn off too many senators.
