Yeah, I was disappointed when I saw an unboxing of the CD, especially after K-12 and Crybaby's editions, which were pretty elaborate. I gave the album a more thoughtful listen and I am starting to like some of the songs I didn't appreciate at first! Some of the songs are growers definitely! Plus Melanie is having an amazing debut this time around! Deserved!

I did! I liked the project overall. I did have some crazy expectations since I am a very huge fan and was a little "disappointed" because of it. I thought Melanie would have a crazier evolution production-wise, some of the songs in this project could fit K-12, for example, imho. But yeah, as of now, PORTALS is my AOTY. It feels like an actual album. Love some of the choices they made on the songs. I would say it's an 82/100 for me more or less.

The song came out yesterday with only 8 hours of tracking + it's semi-viral on TikTok + album hype too I guess. It seems also that the label is pushing this song harder than the previous single.

The fact that she has already posted the announcement video and a still from the movie kind of confirms she will post the trailer too methinks. I mean, even if she isn't the strongest force on social media, she can do basically free promo for the movie, especially considering that with HOG, a lot of people went to see the movie just because she was in it.

It seems from the snippets and this song that this album will be more influenced by a "rockier" sound instead of hip-hop from the previous albums. Now that I'm thinking about it, it kind of reminds me of Halsey's latest album, but more "spiritual" like sounds. I do really recommend a listen, I loved it. It's also true that I'm a fan so

OMG... I just listened to Melanie Martinez's Death and... I'm speechless. Such a great evolution from her past works... It feels like a trip. I'm so hyped for the album now! Probably one of my AOTY of 2023, without a doubt.

Btw, Hold My Hand has now surpassed 100K videos on TikTok, quite a few of the videos were recent (Oscars) and it currently has 106K videos! Not bad at all tbh

I agree. Billie with her bad guy / bury a friend kind of vocal delivery and some "creepy" vocal effects could really be a great addition to the song. Plus she has a good relationship with Spotify + she's signed to Interscope too, so it makes sense. I could also see Rihanna in the song with a Disturbia kind of delivery from her, but this ain't gonna happen in a million years lmao.
