  1. They can definitely submit her wherever they want and probably get away with it. But there is a limit. Some supporting wins have had a few minutes of screen time and some have been literally a full-on lead. Not having seen it and trying not to read too into what people are saying, I can’t really imagine Gaga isn’t big enough in the movie to not sneak in lead if they want, but it seems to be based on their recent marketing and takes from experts - they’re aiming for supporting. I would consider Olivia a lead in The Favourite - although it’s definitely an ensemble piece and one could definitely make the argument she’s supporting. Her presence and vitalness to the story overrides having, say, less screen time imo (it’s not much less than Emma btw). I literally screamed and texted that to a friend. I was ROLLING. What a GREAT piece overall.
  2. Honestly, I don't really want her to go back to RedOne, I think she's ok moving on.
  3. What a 24 hours. My thoughts (that no one asked for, ha) Red carpet: SMASH. Icon behavior, as always. Joker response: I am a pretty hardcore cinephile and I am personally very disappointed to see the mixed response and to see that Gaga isn't the co-lead we all assumed when this project was announced. I am working hard to avoid spoilers before I see it, but I am let down. The first movie I thought was mostly photocopying other great works (e.g. Taxi Driver) - and doing it pretty well, but I didn't quite feel Todd's specific voice and I thought the movie was ok and didn't deserve the amount of Oscar noms it received. When this sequel was announced with Gaga I thought he'd really kick it up a notch and that adding music would create something really unique (which it likely still will be) where his voice really breaks through (I hope it still does) and stands as a powerful piece of cinema (maybe not though). Again, movies are subjective and sometimes it takes years and years to truly look at a movie and understand it and appreciate it. Especially movies that are really out there. I have no doubt Gaga is going to be absolutely amazing in it, regardless of being supporting or not. Joker box office: I do think this will impact the box office, both opening and the following weeks. The first film was divisive both for content and for the film itself. But it was new and fresh for a comic book film in many ways while being well made (especially for DC at the time). This might drag the opening down a bit but is more likely to play out in post-opening numbers if the audience feels similar to critics. I tend to fall closer to critic takes, but not always, and this film could truly go either way. It can punch up for sure. Also, there are no real blockbusters coming out in October except towards the end of the month with Smile 2 and Venom - which aren't surefire hits either. I think this could stop us from hitting a billion, but this movie will def do over 750+ worldwide and a billion is 100% very possible. If audiences like it, the sky is the limit. Also, the soundtrack being all covers won't give us any ASIB or traditional musical boon that a film gets when people love the soundtrack. Oscar chances: This definitely is a hard knock to Gaga. So that's a bummer. We'll have to see, but I do think they'll push her, but it'll REALLY depend on how people feel about her work in the movie when it comes out. Also, if the film gives her those breakthrough scenes that typically get someone nominated in the first place. We just won't know for a while. But leading up, we should at least get a vibe from the experts on GoldDerby (her switching from lead to supporting has basically eliminated her from the rankings for now since she previously had been considered as lead). LG7: I'm shook by the 4 month gap from lead to album, but I am HERE for it and I haven't been this excited for a Gaga album since probably BTW. We are being FED. If the casuals don't love the new single, they can croak. Vogue interview: Stunning, love every word. I am just so happy for her. SO SO HAPPY. So glad she found Michael. Secret project: To me, this has always been a musical soundtrack. I don't know if it's for the stage (e.g. on her own a la Waitress or with Lin) or a movie (e.g. rumored Jane film or something else), but I think it's a soundtrack. I think we'll know by the end of next year. I could see it being an original jazz record too, but rooting for a full LG7 musical. Die with a Smash: What more could be said. Talent won. Thanks for coming to my folie-a-ted-talk.
  4. YES, KEEP IT COMING. Come on TEN MINUTES.
  5. ASIB is an incredible film and we’re so lucky it was Gaga’s first major film. It’s a blessing. You don’t have to like it, but it’s a very well made film (it has flaws of course) that put Gaga’s acting career in A-list camp single handed because of how good it is, she is and the soundtrack is - like whoa.
  6. Honestly, it's perfect. I love this WOMAN so much. I think she got an 7-8 minute standing O for ASIB, I'm expecting 10+ now.
  7. @Matteo Remondi I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU RIGHT NOW
  8. I agree it's similar to 2019 Oscars in that it's a black dress, but I really like it.
  9. Just a reminder to not drag other users and label them annoying or tell them they can't post takes or stats that aren't 100% positive. We have SO MUCH to be positive and happy about, no one is taking that away. It's ok to have different perspectives and opinions. Mostly importantly, everyone can be civil to each other (and other artists, including Katy).
  10. Better, we'll have a TOUR next summer. There's just so much coming to us
  11. DWAS is already my most streamed song for the year, I fear LG7 may manage to eclipse it in 2 short months
  12. I too feel so vindicated. Proud of us all Nahh, she's gotta let it breathe. I think October 25th, the night before my Halloween party too This wouldn't impact longevity, if anything, it means she's set up for a good run during the usually dull Jan - Mar timeframe. This could be really great, especially if the album itself takes off (the holiday albums are much weaker than the singles). I think later October, I think Joker needs at LEAST two full weekends to itself. I do think November release. Nov 22 is smelling quite nice right now
  13. Depends on the film. It’s not a traditional musical in any way. You pay that much for Gaga because she will, without question, be the best in this role - the soundtrack is secondary to the artistic vision for the film. I do think Interscope is snot releasing the soundtrack because it won’t have singles to push, personally.
  14. You’re totally right and I agree chart wise it might be smart. That said, I don’t think Gaga cares as much as we do and if she puts out a stellar record it can do just fine either way. But also, Christmas music doesn’t impact the album chart as strongly as it does the singles chart so she could still dominate. I think really pushing October / November could be strong and then starting the New Year with some domination could be nice. I wonder if Joker soundtrack will be very traditional / have any new music that could take off like Shallow/ARUTW. If it does, then I’m with yall and think we wait til 2025, but if it isn’t that type of album, I could see LG7 by the end coming now long after.
  15. I still think they’re going to roll out in the weeks after Joker once the hype starts to die down. I could see a single in late October before Halloween and the album in November (if they have a lead single that is). Next year makes a lot of sense, but this feels like a fall release to me with the dark aesthetic.
  16. As we gear up for Joker 2, do not share spoilers without a spoiler tag AND a warning. I will temporarily ban anyone who does until after the movie opens. This also includes sharing a tweet or image or part of an article with spoilers.
  17. Chromatica didn’t catch up with the masses, as much as I and many of us lived it. Promo wouldn’t have fixed it - and it’s pretty clear Gaga was a main driver of that decision. ROM was a decent hit, but even that wasn’t really embraced. It’s sad, but happens. I’m not saying her team is perfect, but we can be reasonable. This so much.
  18. I still think we get LG7 in November (maybe with a single in late Sept/Oct) - honestly the only thing that might push it a bit in my mind is that DWAS is smashing so hard, but since the sound will be so different I think they don’t have to worry too much about that. PS. Popster for Sale is for 45k. And will be a shorter stay until the next.
