I wish the "Gaga was saving the world / owes you nothing" rhetoric pages back was a GGD parody, but sadly, it seems real. Why is ANYONE still bringing up Gaga's philanthropy to deflect criticism of her *music*? No one drags those efforts, so a) it's a non-starter, and b) using acts of goodwill by a celeb you've no relationship with as a trump card is more worrisome behavior than fans wanting the Pop era experience sold to them a year ago.

NONE of us know Gaga, what she thinks, etc., nor should we care. We should care when a corporation sells, promotes, and fails to deliver a product to consumers (whose support enabled it to succeed). Gaga DOES owe fans. She chose to release an album. Regardless of factors that influenced its roll-out, she needs to 1) meet industry standards (2-3 singles, SM engagement, performances, visuals) or 2) communicate an update. Being kind / philanthropy is NOT mutually exclusive to fulfilling either professional obligation to investors.

Worst of all, those who flashed the "how dare you! philanthrophy!" card went after a user's mental health because of their opinion on Chromatica's rollout. One user used 911's lyrics ("go pop a 911!") as an attack several times, the song most relevant to the album's aim of destigmatizing mental health; apparently, Gaga's philanthropy is still very needed if her most aggressive group of defenders don't see the sad irony on display.
