Charts Discussion Thread (911 / Voting Era)

I don't think Gaga lost her selling power, it's just that with Chromatica she was trying to cater to Gen Z, which obviously doesn't use iTunes.

But they definitely need to go harder with streaming. Who cares for traditional singles, just put a f***ing song on TTH/more playlists and that trivial gap with folklore/FN could easily be closed, only 1.5m streams in the end :rip:

Guys, remember that you can't (directly) pay to be included in a playlist.

Of course you can't. But you also can't say Dua Lipa's residency in the TTH reflects her other statistics. Or SWU perpetually being above ROM

It could just be Spotify investing in her. It's a complex business decision that goes way beyond statistics that we can see.

You can't but my point is, the daily difference in streams between Chromatica (a flop album) and folklore/Future Nostalgia (supposed smash albums) is literally 1.5m streams. Kind of the amount of a song (or two) playlisted on TTH + others. Like, not really a big deal...

Well we also know Spotify chose Katy to be their muse pre-Witness so time the ultimate truth teller will have the final say

It's not a big deal for a daily comparison but that 1.5m in 90 days becomes significant.

Which makes perfect sense. Prism was a huge era, Spotify will bank on that. Once her commercial power started to wane, her positions on TTH started to worsen.

Posting this again for the delulus who still think that Dua isn't payolad to death on Spotify.

Dua Lipa Spotify playlist reach - 400.5M

Lets Compare :

The Weeknd - 326M

Lady Gaga - 237M

Ariana Grande - 287M

Harry Styles - 234M

Post Malone - 245M

So how come Gaga coming from ASIB isn't getting a similar treatment, especially for a track with Ariana who is coming from sweetener and thank u, next back to back, also up there among Gen z's biggest pop stars? Face value ROM shouldn't have dropped that fast on TTH

This doesn't prove anything. Spotify might think that Dua is the next big streaming artist and banking on her.

folklore was labeled as the 2nd coming of Jesus since day 1 while Chromatica was labeled as "her biggest bomb" past weeks 2-3, yet Gaga's biggest bomb is only 1.5m streams away from AOTY now.... For the sake of this narrative, they should push for some exposure and get close to folklore's daily streams (or FN, same thing). That would save Chromatica from its flop narrative and we all would be happy. Who cares for traditional singles, chart peaks etc. at this point, they're not gonna happen.
