not to mention how Wildest Dreams' chorus is supiciously similar to this

Yeahh, also sound wise she has multiple songs in the last few years that sound like Del Rey rejects.

It's getting weird...

Didn't know dreamy choruses with airy vocals are Lana-exclusive.

except the similarities are in rhythm and melody not "dreamy chorus with airy vocals"

One last thing I want to say about the topic its that it's funny how she went the Lana route after NFR got more critical acclaim and better grammy noms (as if it mattered bc both went home empty handed but anyways). I never understood why the critics decided to suck up to Lana out of nowhere when she released that album either.

it sounded like a step backward

I feel like it's not a step forward or backwards, since every lana album goes in a different direction.

The first one is a very common slang widely used in songs.

Like "out & about", "safe and sound", blue for sex, rose colored glasses, etc..

The second one tho

She firstly went the Katy Perry route when she decided to be a pop star, 1989 was basically bubblegum Teenage dream 2.0 but nowhere near as global and without multiple global classics.

Then she went the Del Rey route after Reputation and Lover, to get acclaim since her pop tunes formula didn't work anymore to get hits or Grammys.

Still haven't listened to Evermore as a whole but I like the lead single way more than I did Cardigan.

OT: Can't wait for the numbers for both Evermore and Folklore tomorrow, will be fun to track.

Also  10/12/2020

24    HOLIDAY by Lil Nas X    2,216,110

peak position and streams, serving organic growth but I see this song peaking at like 3M since the rise as been so slow, hopefully my theory is right that this is more of an appetizer and the next single will bring more hype.
