A Popster Is Born 16,835

i think UK's Cert System is Pure Sales (pre-2016) + SPS (post 2016).. meaning streams and digital sales pre-SPS System are not counted unlike RIAA

"Loud" is now certified 7x Platinum in the UK.

There is a shop here called 'Topman' that sold a Rihanna T shirt, and there's a tweet that regularly goes viral about this era, because all teens and early 20s bought a white t shirt with a picture of her on it with red hair in 2011-2012. It was inescapable if you went clubbing.

So that doesn't surprise me, she had a mini cultural boom with that lol

Yeah by late 2011 the album had sold 1.8M in the UK so 2.1M pure seems coherent

That album was a real cultural reset even my aunt who rarely listens to pop music bought it lmao

IFPI will always use pure sales (shipments) for albums and SPS for singles. You don't have to worry about that. Gaga is at +300k pure sales in the US and probably +700k worldwide with shipments so far.

who knows?? they've changed their Singles YE List from pure sales to SPS last 2015?

maybe they'll finally use the SPS for albums starting on 2020..
