Sure but in general there was a sort of consensuos even in the box office board that in the worst scenario this would have done at least 600-700M coming from the success of the first (before presale), the actual result is honestly the most unexpected and quite shocking scenario.

And yes, DWAS smash was definitely not expected.

I think her silence shows that damage control is well and truly in place. I imagine there were scheduled social media posts, maybe another interview/TV spot and some press for the Japan & China releases, and for the sake of her own brand her team have cancelled all of it.

There's no changing how bad the outcome is, commercially or critically. Despite positive reviews for her, this is a major failure and setback in her acting career in the eyes of Hollywood, and speaking out about any of this right now can only fan the flames of that narrative. Unfortunately, this will almost certainly be the big joke of awards season for every monologue at all the big shows, and then I would expect it to feature heavily at the Razzies.

Ride out the bad press for the next week or two and launch LG7 as planned almost as if JFAD never happened. It's imperfect after so much planning to have multiple things work successfully at once, but it's the only way forward now. Thank feck for DWAS!
