I don't think it'll flop, but you're right they could move or adjust Pt 2. But I bet they wouldn't because Wicked will probably do quite well on digital / streaming and that should boost pt 2 as well.

The kii would be, if Joker didn't debut at Venice, there would be no critics and audience reactions and maybe those US pre-sales would also hit the expected highs that were predicted at first :mess:

They would just get mad after already seeing the movie :laughga:

Yep the true mistake was not doing screen tests and debuting it in Venice

But after Venice the film had mixed reactions, I guess the american press would have destroyed it anyway, the smear campaign has been precisely orchestrated for a long time. But yes, probably the BO of the first weekend would have been much higher

That was basically what they did with HOG, although the movie was better received, they skipped all the festivals because they know the movie wouldn’t have been critically acclaimed and they avoided possible bad words of mouth and so on, MGM has been smart.

I’m sure JFAD would have been even less panned without Venice early reviews + all the negative presales buzz.
