Ayobabylon PronounsHe/him Popster to Popster 3,908
Spoiler The characters of Joker and Harley have some interesting charm and dynamics between them, but despite the strong performance from Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, the laughably dialogue, uninteresting side characters, and tone that takes itself WAY too seriously doesn't do much justice. Including Philips' direction being kind of all over the place. Philips really tries to grasp hard to move away from the derivative comedy movies in his past career and lean into dramatic works but unfortunately, he seems to fail to stray away from it. I do give appreciation to the costume designers and the camerawork designs because they are good. Moonlight Shadow A Popster Is Born 10,470
A friend attended the premiere of Venice : his own opinion : SPOILER : Spoiler - Gaga is great. - The music balance is weird : sometimes it sings a lot, sometimes not at all. But it takes people in a place they didn't expected, great point. - He liked Joker 1 a lot more. And hope there's no Joker 3. - Some length, a bit too long, could be shortened a bit. - That's Entertainment' is sung and that's the core point of the movie. - He think there's only covers, can't be sure as he don't know all the songs. 'Ne me quitte pas' by Jacques Brel is sung, not by Gaga. Edited September 4 by Moonlight Shadow 1 1

Bernadette Popster This Way 692
Unnoficial reviews from journalists Spoiler Todd Phillips' direction and screenplay in this sequel fall short precisely because he does not explore the crucial points of the plot in an inventive way. It feels like an unfinished film, full of flaws. The highlights are Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix's performances, both delivering complex, deep, and multi-layered portrayals that provide their respective characters with formidable and well-developed arcs. A standout moment is the scene where Lee Quinzel (Lady Gaga) has a breakdown and becomes involved in a massacre in the courtroom. Spoiler "Joker: Folie à Deux" is an example of how sequels aren’t always a good idea, but Todd Phillips' new project is saved by two key elements: Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix. There are some great moments, but the script is mediocre and doesn’t add value to the Gotham universe created by Phillips. Spoiler Lady Gaga proves once again to be a high-performance and technically skilled actress in this sequel. The actress masterfully leads and builds her character, Lee Quinzel, who spearheads the revolution in Gotham's daily life. Joaquin Phoenix delivers a breathtaking performance, demonstrating why he won the Oscar for the first film. Todd Phillips' direction is good, but it isn’t the main focus of this discussion. 1

little legend Pop-a-911-ster 28,923 x3
Spoiler As a fan of the original Joker film, I eagerly anticipated Joker 2 with the hope that it would delve even deeper into the twisted psyche of Arthur Fleck. However, this sequel, while visually striking and emotionally intense, struggles to recapture the brilliance of its predecessor. A major factor in this is the surprising inclusion of Lady Gaga, whose performance, though bold, feels out of place in this dark narrative. Lady Gaga steps into the role of Harley Quinn with her usual flair, but rather than enhancing the story, her portrayal often feels like an awkward attempt to inject a pop culture icon into a world that thrives on subtlety and despair. Her character's chemistry with Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker is inconsistent, leaving their relationship feeling forced rather than the natural descent into madness we hoped for. One particularly jarring moment is when Gaga’s character breaks into a rendition of her single "Stupid Love." While the song might work on a pop stage ( in real world actually it does not), it feels utterly disconnected from the grim tone of the film. The performance comes across as an odd promotional piece rather than a genuine part of the storyline, detracting from the overall atmosphere and pulling viewers out of the experience. "Stupid Love" was a questionable choice for the soundtrack, and in this context, it’s downright cringe-worthy. Visually, Joker 2 is still stunning, with its gritty cinematography and haunting score. Phoenix continues to deliver a captivating performance, portraying the Joker’s descent into madness with a terrifying grace. Yet, the film’s pacing falters, with some scenes dragging on without adding much to the plot, while others rush through moments that could have been explored with greater depth. In the end, Joker 2 feels like a chaotic symphony of ideas, some brilliant, others misguided. While it attempts to build on the foundation laid by the first film, it ultimately stumbles under the weight of its own ambition, leaving viewers longing for the raw, unfiltered brilliance of the original.

Bernadette Popster This Way 692
It looks like Todd really failed with his script and direction here, but Gaga is only receiving praise for her performance. She did her job correctly like she did in House Of Gucci, but a movie needs more than that. It is a team effort.
