is payola just like all her other songs, no mistery

I don't know. Let's see if it has legs. The most obvious case of radio payola ever was Break My Soul: it quickly gained 80M audience to hit #1, and it was then immediately dropped by the radio, which resulted in the song only spending 18 weeks on the chart.

The radio audience of DTN is very suspicious given that the song is nowhere to be found on U.S. streaming services:katy:

Girl the song is in the top 100 on Spotify US since its release

#87 (+5) today

Considering the good longevity on Spotify US and the huge radio support I expect a top 20, maybe top 10 for DTN when Barbie will be out

A BM experience

Are you serious? After only 3 weeks of release, Dance The Night has reached Top 10 on Pop Radio and is within 10M AI of where Bloody Mary peaked in its ~12th week.

In its 3rd week of Radio Play, BM was receiving ~1.7M Spotify streams vs. DTN's ~1.9M. Unlike DTN, Bloody Mary had already proven to be a hit with streaming audiences, spending several weeks between 2-3M, and it only continued to gain slowly on US Radio as callouts continued to improve/remain steady.

After hugely successful pop era that lasted 2 years, song featured in biggest movie of the year with Spotify and radio  payola aiming for top 20/10, tragic

Not the new Rihanna but the new Katy Perry

Seems like the new promotional tool for artists are accounts passing themselves off as relatable gen-z'ers using the sounds by the artists, when it's actually an advertisement. Saw a lot for Dua's song, a now Doja's as well.

Earlier this year I got tiktok ads pretending to be Miley and SZA fan accounts every two minutes for months :dead:

No im not comparing them, Dua payola is huge and embarassing. Im just saying BM was also rising on radio and stayed in the hot100 for several weeks while being out on both Spotify and AM US

If anyone wants to know the math on that:

1b streams pays out $3m - $5m USD

1.5b streams pays out $4.5m - $7.5m

2b streams pays out $6m - $10m

I Hope not.

Dua better not be taking a 5 years break to release 😭 (Katy literally blew It for waiting so long to release Witness After Prism)

Wish Dua the best tho 😭😓
