Just my opinion on ARTPOP but I feel like she should have produced it fully with Pardon My French producers (DJ Snake, Tchami, Mercer and Madeon). Like it was meant to be, with more House / Rnb orientation.

But then ARTPOP would have been my least fav Gaga album without thinking too much without songs like Applause and ARTPOP (which imo is a masterpiece) Zedd was probably the worst producer in that album because he mostly used noisy and recycled beats

Stupid Love is very radio friendly, so I’m not shocked they picked it. I understand her team was already preparing the music video when it popped online, but they could have changed things around to make Alice work. Alice would have likely not done better, but it sonically represents the album better.

I got dragged hard  for this :billie: but I stand by the fact that SL was picked more so to introduce the era, and tribute a ‘Gaga’ sound to crack radio and reintroduce ‘PopGa’ after a long break (which tbf is what it did, it was her biggest radio smash WW in years in many places) and ROM was the consumption single. The 6 week SL—>ROM was perfect cause that’s when it was almost dead so clearly they knew what the outcome would be.

retrospectively it was a horrid choice cause of covid but I can see some logic

I have to agree with this. It was the perfect song to introduce the pandemic era

I agree. COVID ruined a lot of promo plans they had. It's clear that SL was always meant to be a promo single because she was originally going to announce ROM in early April, so her team never planned to have SL carry the era from late Feb to late May. SL did better than it should have when you think about how they pulled away from it and paused the era within just mere weeks as COVID ravaged everything.

Bobby's original plan was, in a lot of ways, similar to what Selena did when she released Lose You To Love Me and Look At Her Now. LYTLM was always meant to be the big single and LAHN was used as promo.

The fact she had a piano version of Stupid Love and Max Martin recorded the vocals. I'm curious to see how Stupid Love would have sounded if Max Martin would have fully produced and co-wrote the song with her only.

I guarantee you he would have gotten rid of the chipmunk chirps throughout the song. spacer.png
