There's plenty of songs with impressive chart runs (20 weeks+) that were released before the streaming era. Just some of them:

"How Do I Live" by LeAnn Rimes - 32 weeks
"Smooth" by Santana featuring Rob Thomas - 30 weeks
"Party Rock Anthem" by LMFAO featuring Lauren Bennett and GoonRock - 29 weeks
"Iris" by Goo Goo Dolls - 28 weeks
"You Were Meant for Me"/"Foolish Games" by Jewel - 28 weeks
"Truly Madly Deeply" by Savage Garden - 27 weeks
"Apologize" by Timbaland featuring OneRepublic - 25 weeks
"How to Save a Life" by The Fray - 24 weeks
"No One" by Alicia Keys - 24 weeks
"I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith - 22 weeks
"The Way You Move" by OutKast featuring Sleepy Brown - 22 weeks
"Low" by Flo Rida featuring T-Pain - 22 weeks
"I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz - 22 weeks
"Yeah!" by Usher featuring Lil Jon and Ludacris - 21 weeks
"Fallin'" by Alicia Keys - 21 weeks

1. Not you having to dig up some really old songs to prove that a 19-week run in the top 10 is underwhelming

2. Many of these songs didn't have to compete with streaming-heavy songs

So, you are suggesting that Hello is bigger than Sorry because the latter was more reliant on streaming? "Sorry" and "Love Yourself" spent way more weeks in the top 10. They also stomped all over "Hello" on the year-end chart.

List of songs on Billboard's 2016 Year-End Hot 100 chart[2]
No. Title Artist(s)
1 "Love Yourself" Justin Bieber
2 "Sorry" Justin Bieber
3 "One Dance" Drake featuring Wizkid and Kyla
4 "Work" Rihanna featuring Drake
5 "Stressed Out" Twenty One Pilots
6 "Panda" Desiigner
7 "Hello" Adele
8 "Don't Let Me Down" The Chainsmokers featuring Daya
9 "Can't Stop the Feeling!" Justin Timberlake
10 "Closer" The Chainsmokers featuring Halsey

Not you using a chart that is based on the very chart which methodology favours streaming to prove your point :icant:

I'm pretty sure Hello has more RIAA units than Sorry, Love Yourself and WDYM

It's 7x Platinum as of late 2017, but I doubt that it gained enough streams to reach 12x Platinum. Its streams are very underwhelming because it was frontloaded and forgotten.

Sorry (11× Platinum)
Love Yourself (9x Platinum, early 2022)

Because it's the main means of consumption. Why would it favor sales over streaming?

THE METHODOLOGY OMG

It does not accurately capture the real-time consumption patterns for sales compared to streaming
