A Popster Is Born 10,124

For how huge Shallow actually is, 90M is not great at all, and it only got to this number because radio was forced to play it after the Oscars.

Other peaks from around the same time:

Without Me - 155M

7 Rings - 130M

High Hopes - 168M

Girls Like You - 170M

Happier - 143M

Dancing with a Stranger - 148M

Sucker - 146M

Do What U Want outpeaking Shallow on radio :rip: that shitty R. Kelly collab really had to ruin the era

She could've had her Rude Boy moment and saved the era with a Rihanna or Weeknd collab on that song

Monsters love to paint that song as the little lamb that could in USA :rip:

It had support on all fronts. Performances, playlists, interviews,  plastered in cinemas all over the country etc.

to be honest it stay very few weeks on TTH compared to other hit, radio also only played after the oscar even though the song had already been smashing for like months

all of that made the song spent only 7 weeks on top 10 when it coul have been so many more

It peaked at #19 on POP, what are you even talking about? But true, not everyone can have a smash movie

It's sad that this is probably gonna be Gaga's first single without a music video. I know they don't mean much these days, but the song is so incredible and unique. It begs for some insane, expensive and non-iphoned visuals.

It’s so weird that Applause is her biggest radio hit. It didn’t feel like it at all.

cause it is not, radio was just very inflated at that time

she was also very chart hungry so she probably payola'd the hell of out it

It is not

the panel for US radios changed a lot after Bad Romance/Poker Face...etc

During Applause’s time smashes like Dark Horse, Blurred Lines...etc reached 200M+ Al for example

It's because of top40.. it only peaked at #19 and not even making the YE Chart there

Meanwhile

AC - #2 Peak and #2 YE

HAC - #2 Peak/ #1 Mediabase Peak and #11 YE

Did it really ruin the era though?? I dont remember people being that critical towards the song back in 2013. I think the public was just tired of Gaga at that point

Where do you think Gaga's career would have been right now had she released the DWUW video and it ended up smashing and saving the era back then?

Probably still making pop music instead of Joanne and Jazz albums :icant:

But I love her career as it is, honestly

It didnt ruin the Era but an MV Push wouldve brought DWUW to a new height

Edit: MV with JT or Bruno or TW.. we all love DWUW ft R.Kelly but an MV with him humping or touching Gaga wouldve ruined her career

BalladGa's WW to US ratio was always impressive, she's far too sophisticated to be some frontloaded radio fodder girlie
