Well I'll just say that the fact that people mostly care about the melody/hook doesn't mean that's a non-melodic song can't be a good song. This should be fairly obvious since there are entire genres of music that do not rely on that and still manage to produce good music.

We were talking about the general taste of the GP preferring  melody over text. There is a reason why the genres you mentioned are neither hitmakers nor huge album sellers. They have their small niche audience and don't move much.

Not them giving Midnights a 5/5, whew, Taylor truly increased the critics goodwill towards her with FolkMore and Red T.V. Tbh I feel like Midnights will perform with critics the same way Harry's House did. Neither of those albums were the artists peak musically, but neither of the albums was outright bad.
