Yes, maybe she was preparing for the role while she was doing the Chromatica Ball Tour, but anyways, it's weird that now she seems to need way lessfull-dedicate time to prepare for her roles.

hopefully she realized she doesn't have to do all that ~method acting~ 

on interviews she said she was trying to approach things in a more healthy manner, so maybe that's what's happening

I have a feeling Godga has been preparing for Joker for more than a year now…I’m sure she got offered the role years ago since the concept of the movie was materialised (the fact that it will be from her perspective and a musical makes it clear that the whole movie was concepted as a vehicle for her to show her capabilities)

If they are gonna release a video, why not go all the way and record a new one? She could some of the movie locations and do it while filming J:FAD.
