People can make a case awards shows need to go if they want, but if there’s a desire for subjective art to be rewarded, they need to accept Grammy voters can - and should be able to - vote for any art for any reason. The entire reason Grammys exist is because of bias. Many awards have objective purposes: BB for Chart success, others for fan size / engagement, etc. The “Grammys” don’t decide as a collective. Every year, people go on about “spreading wealth,” etc… like, no. 1 song, album, or artist receives the most votes and that’s that. If 30 receives 1 more than HH, so be it. There’s a chance every voter had 1 reason. More likely, it’s a mix of reasons and preferences, and that’s how it should be. You can’t award art, while using MC / BB to call those decisions right or wrong. It’s like Mason scrapping panels in the name of “objectivity” … until he saw the results and decided on his own to expand the noms to 10.
