Several experts agree that Gaga was probably not nominated because everyone already thought she’s a lock for at least a nomination, and Penelope Cruz benefitted from that.

I follow Todd in the Shadows on Twitter and he made a good point. The reason Dua and The Weekend aren’t outright smashing with Sweetest Pie and Dawn FM is because they never took a break from their successful eras and didn’t allow people to miss them. Harry is smashing with this new single because he took a breather after Watermelon Sugar.

I think HOG being disliked by them was another factor too so here’s hoping gaga chooses a better director

Well I had the same opinion (not about Mario) about Brown for the Rihanna "event". But then I knew Rihanna forgave him and were couple again... is there another abuse reported?
