And 4 out of 6 won the Oscar. They’re a pretty good precursor which bodes well for Gaga. Sophia was robbed last year. Her movie made me cry so much. She’s still the most talented and beautiful thing to come out of Italy

BenG Popster for Sale 41,791
Estimation of HoG's domestic gross without the COVID-19 pandemic Method 1: using average domestic gross 2021: $10,392,675 2019: $12,426,868 2018: $11,973,153 2017: $12,996,261 2017-2019: $12,439,405 Assume that HoG's domestic gross is $50M. $50M / $10,392,675 x $12,439,405 = $59,846,984 Method 2: using percentile (based on number of releases) 2021: 430 releases 2019: 911 releases 2018: 993 releases 2017: 852 releases Assume that HoG's domestic gross rank is #25. 25 / 430 = 5.81% 2019: 5.81% * 911 = ~53, #53 film grossed $54,724,696. 2018: 5.81% * 993 = ~58, #58 film grossed $51,024,708. 2017: 5.81% * 852 = ~50, #50 film grossed $55,683,845. Average: $53,811,083 Method 1 assumes uniform impact of the pandemic on gross. Method 2 attempts to compare against similar gross films by removing the impact of blockbuster and small indie films, which are affected differently by the pandemic. Wait, so there's not really such a difference between pre- and post-pandemic era or am I missing sth? We're talking about a 106-118% of the current gross

We're talking about a 106-118% of the current gross The difference is much smaller than what most people think. 2021 was a huge recovery from 2020. Also, it seems that blockbusters took a much bigger hit than other bigger-than-average films. The more significant (and interesting) impact is the number of releases, which has almost halved. They were either shelved or went straight to streaming platforms.
