Unlike Madonna, who has fallen completely out of grace, Taylor can still command the global public, can get small global hits and even her less successful albums, until recently, got a hit in countries where the album performed poorly. Kind of recency bias on my part, but I do think that Taylor has been bigger than Madonna this century. There are two Madonna hits from this century that most people know, Hung Up and 4 Minutes.
