For MR she went to promo it almost everywhere, including one of the most viewed programs in the world and it success was mainly in the US in a few markets and even there it didn't smash, it was just a moderate hit. Shallow/ARUTW/INLA all got heavy promo since the movie got so popular and so many went to see the film. They were also covered on like every talent show in the world So even though they didn't had much promo from Gaga directly they still got lots of promo. The chromatica singles on the other hand you wouldn't even be aware of their existence if you aren't using streaming playlists because thats the only promo they had apart from the VMA performance That said, i think Gaga can have another smash again easily if she wants to, no matter if it's a dance song or ballad. I don’t think monsters expect anything logical, we’re just a fanbase. It’s chartsters mostly who expect her do all the right moves in order to get hits.
