So just read that 60% of people in hospital in the UK bc of covid are…. Vaccinated we’ll never go out of this sh*t I’m afraid

It’s the opposite actually

yup the adviser misspoke, which wouldn't make sense because that % would be higher than the % of population fully vaccinated, which would mean the vaccine is potentially doing more harm than good (not adjusting for other factors) :mess:

Still 40% is way too much

For every 100 people in the UK, 69 are at least partially vaccinated, 31 are not.

For every 10 people hospitalised, 4 are at least partially vaccinated, 6 are not.

Reduction in hospitalisation due to at least partial vaccination: 6/31 (0.194) down to 4/69 (0.058), which translate to an effectiveness of 70% against hospitalisation.

This assumes the population is equal, not adjusted for risk factors like age and chronic illnesses.

I assume the remaining 40% is split across unknown vaccine status, single and double jabs?

Sorry, I meant to tag you, not to quote you. The 60% in hospitals are unvaccinated, then we are left with 40%.

Oops I didn't read the tweet properly. Which means the vaccine is even more effective than in my example
