little legend Pop-a-911-ster 29,586 x3
Let's start our courses with some basic knowledge: The color of blood is dependent on the protein responsible for oxygen transport. Hemoglobin is present in vertebrate’s blood and gives the blood a red color. Hemocyanin is present in squid, octopi, horeshoe crabs and some other cephalopods and arthropods. It turns their blood blue. Some worms even have green blood, resulting from oxygenated hemerythrin proteins. Did you know the longest human neck is over 17cm? All free oxygen in the air was brought there by cyanobacteria, around 2.4 billion years ago. The reactive properties of free oxygen caused almost all life to go extinct, but also paved the way for more complex, multicellular life. This is perhaps the strongest example of the ‘extended phenotype’: the environment did not just shape and influence life, life has also shaped and influenced the environment. In this case, life altered the chemical composition of earth’s entire atmosphere. Did you know you can survive in space without a suit?Well, only for about 15 seconds. It takes that long for humans to lose consciousness in space due to lack of oxygen to the brain. In 1965, a technician was inside a vacuum chamber and accidentally depressurized his suit. After 12 to 15 seconds he lost consciousness, but his suit was repressurized at 27 seconds. According to Scientific American, the man recalled “the moisture on his tongue beginning to boil as well as a loss of taste sensation that lingered for four days following the accident.” Edited February 6, 2021 by little legend

GitHub Pronounsshe/her Popster to Popster 3,752
Seriously though I used to tutor and have experience providing training and mentorship, so I'd be more than happy to help high schoolers or undergrads in the areas of math/stats/computational genomics/programming. And I'm a native English speaker as well. Edited February 6, 2021 by GitHub fix: clarification

But here goes my essay: Fracking is the process of injecting a bunch of chemicals, sand, and large amounts of water through cracks in the ground at high pressure in order to recover and extract mainly natural gas (but also oil) for fuel burning. The industry has exploded here in the US in the last few years, such as in the state of PA, which has created jobs and resulted in reduced energy costs. Natural gas has been called a "clean" source of energy, which compared to more polluting energy sources like coal, it is, but there are issues that are starting to come to light such as methane leakages and groundwater pollution. There is a tug-of-war between environmentalists who see fracking and natural gas as only a bridging process/energy source to transition to 100% renewable energy, and the oil/gas industry which wants to continue to invest in fracking and build pipelines, even though the supply is ultimately unsustainable. Hence the contentious political debate on banning fracking during the 2020 US elections and why the Trump administration tried to go after Gaga as being anti-fracking. 1
